HISTORY

In the fall of 2020, three members went on a ride to the Big Bend area in west Texas.  It was then proposed to form a riding club.  Those members were Mike Garrett, Mike Powell and Kelly Daniels.

The 515 Riders motorcycle club was formed in 2021 by a group of riders who are current federal employees and contractors.  We enjoy riding the roads less traveled and the fellowship.  The club's inaugural ride was to Nancy's Steak House in Columbus, Texas.  Those in attendance on that first ride were Mike Garrett, Vic Midyett, John Lynch and Mike Powell.

Things I Have Learned Over The Years - SAFETY

It is never too late to talk about safety.  Many of us ride often and some everyday!  If you haven't been on your steel horse in awhile, it is always a good idea to check things out.  Fluid levels, tire pressure are important along with a general visual inspection.  Things vibrate and may be ready to fall off!  I can recall riding somewhere and looking for something I had when I started.  If you're laughing at this point it has happened to you.  You cannot day-dream on a motorcycle.  The machine demands your full attention.

Several of us ride to work; why?  because we enjoy it.

Wear the right equipment; helmet, face protection, jacket, gloves, long pants and boots. (Models) Rick Chapman and Lucas Powell.

Riding Tips

Spacing is your friend.  Anticipate drivers encroaching in your space!  We all know this happens!

Keep a healthy adrenaline when you ride.  When you swing your leg over, think of it as the first time you rode a bike.

Ride in the rain - keep up your skill level.

Respect the bike and operate accordingly.

Maintain an onboard tool kit.  While we're at it include first aid and tire repair kits.

Enjoy the road!

Keep the shiny side up!
